Martin Knutzen

Martin Knutzen (* December 14, 1713 in Königsberg, † January 29, 1751 ) was a German philosopher.

Life

The son of the merchant Knutzen Hagen began his education at the parish school Altstädtischer and enrolled in 1726 at the University of Konigsberg. Among his teachers were Franz Albert Schultz, Johann Gottfried texts (1704-1772 physicist ) and Abraham Wolf (1680-1731 theologian ). After earning Master's degree in 1733 in Königsberg, he was there in 1735 obliged to associate professor of logic and metaphysics. In 1744, he was appointed co-factors responsible for the castle library, and chief inspector of the University of Königsberg.

His students have included Immanuel Kant and Johann Georg Hamann.
