Martin Laursen ( born July 26, 1977 in Farvoug ) is a former Danish football player.

The defender Martin Laursen began his career in 1995 in the Danish first division club Silkeborg IF and moved to Italy's Serie A with Hellas Verona 1998. 2001 brought him the AC Milan, where he scored with his Danish compatriot Thomas Helveg to the root formation of defense and 2003, the UEFA Champions League won. In 2004 he went to the English Premier League for Aston Villa, where he signed a four year contract. In the 2008 /09 season, he was named captain of his team. In the first round Aston Villa lay with Laursen still at No. 3 and was only a few points away from the championship lead, first as Laursen due to a knee injury in December turned out long, Aston Villa slipped from 5th place.

On 15 May 2009 Laursen ended his career due to this knee injury after several comeback attempts were unsuccessful.

For the Danish national football team, he made his debut on 29 March 2000 against Portugal. He participated in the football EM 2000 (no use ) and 2004 ( four inserts ) and at the 2002 World Cup ( four inserts) part.
