Martin Ohm

Martin Ohm ( born May 6, 1792 in Erlangen, † April 1, 1872 in Berlin) was a German mathematician.

In 1811 he received his PhD under the direction of Karl Christian von Langsdorf Dr. phil at the Friedrich -Alexander- University of Erlangen. In 1821 he was appointed Privatdozent in Berlin, 1824 and 1839 associate professor. In 1832 he became a corresponding member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences. From 1849 to 1852 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives. He is the brother of physicist Georg Simon Ohm.

Scientific Martin Ohm ( 1822-1852 ) become visible in the nine volumes of " attempt of a perfect, consequenten system of mathematics ". He also created the concept of Golden Section comes. The Ohmstraße in Berlin-Mitte bears his name.
