Martin Prusek

Martin Prusek ( born December 11, 1975 in Ostrava, Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech professional ice hockey goaltender and current coach.

Career

Martin began his career with HC Vitkovice from his home town, for which he debuted during the 1994/ 95 in the Extraliga. In the following six years he established himself as first-choice goalkeeper and his team achieved with this 1997 Czech runner. While the NHL Entry Draft in 1999, he was selected by the Ottawa Senators in the sixth round to 164 place, but moved in 2001 to North America. He first played for the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League, but also gave his NHL debut for the Senators.

During the following two years Prusek completed 47 missions for his franchise as a replacement for Patrick Lalime, before he returned during the lockout in his home and played for his hometown club and the HC Orli Znojemští. In 2005 he came back to North America and was taken by the Columbus Blue Jackets under contract. Mostly, however, he played for their farm team, the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL.

2006 Prusek left the Blue Jackets and moved to the SKA St. Petersburg of the Russian Super League. After a year at SKA he returned to his original club. At the start of season 2008/ 09 he was initially loaned to HK Spartak Moscow. Since this Jussi Markkanen committed in November 2009, Prusek moved within the KHL Dinamo Riga to. For Riga, he completed one and a half seasons in the KHL, before he returned in June 2010 to his old club to Ostrava. In the following season he was initially hard to inserts, so that gave him his club to the HC Olomouc from the 1st league. Following the season, he finished his career as a player and became the season 2011/12 Goalkeeper Coach at HC Vitkovice.

Internationally

Martin Prusek made ​​his debut for the Czech national team on December 17, 1995 against Russia. Since then, he has been nominated for four World Championships, but came in 1997, 1998 and 1999 no inserts. As recently as 2009, he received three bets in the World Cup. As a goalkeeper, he won the 1999 gold medal and 1997 and 1998 respectively the bronze medals.
