Martin Reader

Martin J. Reader ( born May 2, 1984 in Comox ) is a Canadian beach volleyball player.

Career

Reader as a child was first in swimming actively. At the age of ten years he had but to quit swimming because he suffered from asthma. During his time at Camosun College in Victoria, he began with the volleyball. He then played in the team from the University of British Columbia in the hall. His first major tournament as a beach volleyball player was the Junior World Championship 2004 in Porto Santo, where he finished in 19th place with James Alexander Mackay. The following year he formed a duo with Brian John Hiebert and completed his first open tournament of the FIVB series. This reader / Hiebert but did not come over ranked 33rd out. Then Reader played two years with Jessi Lelliott. The duo achieved the best result in 2006 at the Open tournament on home soil in Montreal. After playing at the beginning of 2008, two smaller tournaments with Ben Saxton, formed a duo with Ray Reader Sewell. In two of the first four open tournaments, the two Canadians came to 13th.

At the 2009 World Championships Reader came with Ahren Cadieux. In Stavanger Reader / Cadieux achieved in each group play the tiebreak and still lost all three games, so they were eliminated in the first round. After the World Cup, the duo completed four Grand Slams and three open tournaments. The best result was the 17th place in Marseille. 2010 and 2011 with Chaim Schalk played Reader. The new duo was Canadian champion in 2010 and won in 2011 NORCECA tournament. Then had to pause Reader because of an injury to the back.

In 2012 he returned to the side of Josh Binstock. Reader / Binstock were ninth in the Mysłowice Open and competed in several Grand Slams. By winning the Continental Cup in Canada, they secured a place at the Summer Olympics in London, they were allowed occupy by a success in the national battle against Ben Saxton and Christian Redmann itself. In the Olympic tournament, the two Canadians won their opening match against the British Grotowski / Garcia- Thompson. After two defeats they qualified as group parties for the Lucky- Loser- round. There they were subject to the Italians Nicolai / Lupo and dropped out.

After the tournament ended his athletic career Reader. Since then he has worked as a personal trainer in Toronto and is involved in organizing beach volleyball events.
