Martin Stixrud

Martin Stixrud ( born February 9, 1876 in Oslo, † January 8, 1964 ) was a Norwegian figure skater, who started in a single run.

He won at the age of 44 years and 77 days bronze in figure skating men at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp. He is the oldest winner of an Olympic medal in an individual competition in winter sports.

At the European Championships 1912, he won the bronze medal and after the break by the First World War, he was at home in Oslo 1923 European runner-up behind Willy Böckl. Stixrud participated in four World Cups. His best result was a fourth place in 1922. To date, he holds with his ten national titles (1913 and 1916-1924 ), the record for Norwegian Figure Skating Championships.

After the end of his active career as an athlete, he was also figure skating coach. One of his pupils was Sonja Henie.
