Martin Walsh (film editor)

Martin Walsh ( born November 8, 1955 in Manchester ) is an English cutter.

Life

Walsh grew up in Manchester. He dropped out of school early and wanted something to do with architecture or photography. He hired as an assistant at Cinephoto, a small company called Cinephoto, the industry produced films, in Manchester, which he had the first contact with the film. Since the BBC ran a editorial in Manchester, he took there on a job offer and started to cut on editorial contributions. His first contribution was 30 seconds over a strike in a factory, the only " was ruined by the fact that a journalist insisted to talk about. " ( Ruined only by the journalist 's insistence in talking all over it! )

Since Hear My Song in 1988, Walsh worked exclusively at Miramax productions. When he had a preview in New York for Iris, Chicago was mentioned in a conversation, which after 15 years of planning should be implemented. He should the British Comedy Johnny English cut, but because of the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001 this was moved, Walsh remained in America and accepted the offer to Chicago. Out came the film that not only several nominations important film awards won him, but also the Oscar for Best Editing.
