Martin Weber (ski jumper)

Martin Weber ( born April 15, 1954 in Pappenheim ) is a former German ski jumper who competed for the German Democratic Republic.

Career

Weber, who started for the ASK forward Oberhof, jumped for the first time at the international FIS race on December 30, 1975 in Oberstdorf for the opening competition of the Four Hills Tournament 1975/76. Two years later, on December 30, 1977, he was the first to jump on the podium on the same jump with second place. In the end, he finished second in the overall standings of the Four Hills Tournament 1977/78 3rd place.

On December 30, 1979 Weber first participated in a jump in the newly created Ski Jumping World Cup in Oberstdorf, reaching the 10th Place. On January 6, 1980, he won his first competition in Bischofshofen, reaching at the end as I 1977/78 3rd place in the overall standings of the Tour. The victory was also his last jump in the World Cup. In the overall standings of the World Cup, he was at the end of the season at No. 27

At the Olympic Winter Games in 1980 and the associated World Cup ski jumping in Lake Placid, he reached the 11th place on the normal hill on 13 February 1980. After the games, Weber ended his active career, and now works as a ski coach.
