Martin Wilhelm Kutta

Martin Wilhelm Kutta ( born November 3, 1867 in Pitschen, Upper Silesia, † 25 December 1944 Fürstenfeldbruck ) was a German mathematician.

From 1885 to 1890 he studied at the University of Breslau, then to 1894 at the University of Munich. From 1894-1897 Kutta was assistant to Walther von Dyck at the Technical University of Munich. In 1898, he spent half a year at the University of Cambridge. From 1899-1909 Kutta was again assistant of Walther von Dyck at the Technical University of Munich.

After that he worked from 1909 to 1910 as an associate professor at the University of Jena from 1910 to 1912 he was associate professor at the RWTH Aachen.

1912 Kutta became a full professor at the Technische Hochschule Stuttgart and remained there until his retirement in 1935.

In 1901 he was based on an article by Carl Runge developed the Runge- Kutta method for solving ordinary differential equations.
