Martine Billard

Martine Billard ( born October 7, 1952 in Boulogne- Billancourt ) is a French politician.

Life

Martine Billard engaged since May 1968 in the movement of the Comité d'action lycéen and fought against right-wing extremism. In the 1970s she took part in the battle for abortion and against the Latin American dictatorships, but without having ever taken a position on Cuba.

As a follower of the radical left, she was a member of two radical leftist organizations, the Révolution! and the Organisation Communiste des Travailleurs, so the communist workers' movement.

After a study of economics in Paris, she worked for a time in various occupations ( Fahrkartenentwerterin at Metro, cashier, laborer, accounting assistant, etc.). She then worked for five years as a librarian and ten years in a medium-sized company that specialized in computer cataloging of libraries.

In the 1980s she took part in the fighting against nuclear power and for the Palestinians. They disapproved of Zionism.

Politician of the Green Party

In 1993, she joined the French countryside. 1995 to 2001 she was councilor of Paris, 1996/1997 spokeswoman for the Paris Green and 1999-2000 of the Green Party of France. From 2000 to 2002 she was a member of the collège exécutif the Greens responsible for economic and social issues.

In 2002, she sat down, supported by the Left, in elections to the National Assembly against the mayor of the 1st arrondissement of Paris, Jean -François Legaret (UMP ) competition to win the mandate for the electoral district of Paris 1 This election was considered a surprise, since this constituency is considered wealthy, conservative anchored, constituency. It was here though clearly beaten in the 1st and 4th arrondissement, but got many votes from the bourgeois- bohemian district population of 2nd and 3rd arrondissement.
