Martinian (Sextus Martinianus)

Marcus martinianus († 325) was appointed in 324 by the Roman Emperor Licinius as co-emperor ( Augustus ).

Martinianus had initially held the office of magister officiorum and was appointed by Licinius after his defeat at the Battle of Adrian Opel on July 3, 324 co-regent. Martinianus should stop the advance of Licinius ' opponent Konstantin at Lampsacus. After the final defeat by Constantine at the Battle of Chrysopolis on September 18, 324 Licinius and martinianus were detained separately, the former in Thessalonica, last in Asia Minor, Cappadocia. 325 were both executed.
