Mārtiņš Freimanis

Mārtiņš Freimanis ( born February 7, 1977 in Liepāja, † January 27, 2011 in Riga) was a Latvian musician, actor and author who for Latvia participated several times in the Euro Vision Song Contest.

Freimanis was successfully since 1994 as lead singer of the group " Tumsa " and published with these five albums. In addition, he was also active as a songwriter for other artists.

He represented his country twice at the Euro Vision Song Contest. As a member of the group F.L.Y. He finished the Euro Vision Song Contest 2003 in their own country the third- last place with the title Hello from Mars. Two years later he was a composer of the interpreted Valters & Kaža song The War Is Not Over, which in 2005 reached the fifth place at the Euro Vision Song Contest. In addition, he participated several times as a composer at the national qualifying round. Also for the Euro Vision Song Contest 2011, composed of titles he was represented in the preliminary round.

In addition to his musical career, he has also appeared as an actor, playing the role of Edgar in the television series Neprata cena. In 2004 he published a book of poetry entitled Zālīte trusa Dvēselei.
