Mārtiņš Sirmais

Mārtiņš Sirmais (born 15 July 1982) is a Latvian orienteers. 2006 and 2008 he was vice-European champion middle distance.

Sirmais had his first international championships in 2001 and 2002 in Tampere Sümeg. At the World Championships 2006 he came to sixth place in the sprint and thus for the first time at an international championship in the top ten. His biggest successes came at the European Championships in 2006 and 2008 in Estonia or in his native Latvia. In Otepaeae he was in 2006 on the middle distance second behind the Frenchman Thierry Gueorgiou. In 2008 he finished second in the same discipline again finished second, again behind Gueorgiou.

For international races he runs for the Finnish club Turun Metsänkävijät from Turku. His Latvian club is the IK Auseklis.
