Martinstein

Martin Stein is a municipality in the district of Bad Kreuznach in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bad Sobernheim. Martin Stein is a nationally recognized tourist and with 39 acres of area- smallest municipality in Germany.

Geography

Martin Stein is located on the left bank of the Nahe. To the north rises the Hunsrück, south of the North Palatine Uplands. To the west are Simmertal and high - Stetten Dhaun, in the east village at Monzingen and Merxheim.

History

The village was founded in the Middle Ages at a junction close to the district of simmering under Dhaun. Built in 1340, the archbishop of Mainz during a feud with the Wildgrafen on Dhaun over the place a castle, which was granted city rights two years later. 1518 Martin Stein received its own little district.
