Martinsyde G.100

The Martinsyde G.102 was a British military aircraft manufacturer Martinsyde.

In the summer of 1915 Martinsyde constructed a biplane as patrols single-seater. In September of the same year, the prototype Martinsyde G.100 launched on its maiden flight. The aircraft was unusually large for a single-seater, which resulted from the requirement for a five-hour period of use as escorts for reconnaissance; because of their size they received in troops the nickname Elephant. The G.100 with 125 -horsepower engine Beardmore went in small numbers to the operational squadrons and was used from the spring of 1916 in France.

At the end of 1916 followed G.100 G.102 improved with a more powerful engine and increased payload, but this was at the expense of the flight duration. It was, inter alia, also used as a bomber. Overall, developed around 300 G.100/G.102, of which 133 in France, 64 in the Middle East and the rest in training units were used. For this reason, the type of improved single-seat fighter Martinsyde RG was derived in 1917 yet.
