Martti Jarkko

Martti Jarkko (* November 26, 1953 in Tampere ) is a retired Finnish professional ice hockey player.

Career

Between 1972 and 1979 he played for his hometown club Tappara Tampere. During this time he was appointed twice for the World Championships in the Finnish national ice hockey team. The two best years in Tappara Tampere in 1975 /76 and 1976/77, when he was top scorer and MVP, respectively, which reached most assists and was elected to the All-Star Game. Shortly before this period, he was pulled Islanders at the NHL Amateur Draft 1974 as 235 of the New York. In 1979, the striker for TPS Turku. Three years later brought him Heinz Weifenbach the Sauerland at that Bundesliga ECD Iserlohn. He spent only two years, after which he moved again for a season to Turku. As this brief interlude again had ended, he played in the next two years another time for Iserlohn. There he is still considered one of the best players in the club's history. His professional career, he finished in the 1988/89 season at the Finnish second division Kiekko -67 Turku.

For his service in the Finnish Hockey he was inducted into the National Hockey Hall of Fame.
