Marty Sertich

Martin " Marty " Sertich ( born October 13, 1982 in Roseville, Minnesota ) is an American professional ice hockey player who is since 2013 in the Iserlohn Roosters in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga under contract.

Career

Marty Sertich played during his time at the Roseville High School for the local selection team. He was awarded as the best high school player of the State of Minnesota with the Minnesota Mr. Hockey Award 2001. After graduating from his school joined Sertich in the 2001/ 02 season with the Sioux Falls Stampede in the United States Hockey League. There he became one of the most successful scorers, scoring 53 points in 64 games. In 2002 he began studying at the Colorado College and played for the local team, the Colorado College Tigers. In his second year he was top scorer of his team and scored 39 points in 39 games. In the season 2004/ 05 was Sertich best scorer of the entire National Collegiate Athletic Association with 64 points in 42 games and was able to qualify his team for the championship tournament. There you reached the Frozen Four called final series and was defeated in the semi-finals to University of Denver. For his outstanding achievements Sertich subsequently received numerous awards, including the Hobey Baker Memorial Award for the best college hockey player. A year later Sertich was captain of his team and was again nominated for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award.

In July 2006, the Americans signed a two -year contract with the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League. This sent him for the season 2006/ 07 for Iowa Stars farm team in the American Hockey League. His second year he played in the AHL and was top scorer of his team. In June 2008, Sertich to the Colorado Avalanche was transferred and subsequently signed a new multi-year contract. The season 2008/ 09 he spent again in the AHL, this time at the Lake Erie Monsters. Following two concussions he could only deny 24 games. In the next year played Sertich 53 games before he suffered a third concussion in February 2010 and turned out for the rest of the season.

In the season 2010/11 he moved to Europe in Switzerland and signed with EHC Olten of the National League B. He was one of the best players in the league and extended his contract by two years. When Germany Cup 2011 played Sertich first time for the U.S. national team. In February 2012, he played two additional games for HC Lugano of the National League A. In the season 2012/13 reached Sertich and his team the playoff finals of the NLB and it lost to the Lausanne HC. On 21 July 2013, the Iserlohn Roosters editions of the German Ice Hockey League announced the commitment Sertichs.

Play

Sertich has excellent technical skills and has its strength as a center especially in the build-up play and passing game. It is effective on the powerplay, and can read the game well. Sertich is a fast skater, good Bully players and also meet as often as scorer in appearance. Although it has a smaller stature, he works hard on the boards and has a good defensive play. He has a good work ethic and leadership qualities.
