The Marussia MR02 is the fourth Formula 1 racing car Marussia F1 Team. The vehicle is used in the 2013 Formula 1 season. Presented it was on February 5, 2013 at the Circuito de Jerez.

Technology and Development

The MR02 is the successor of the MR01 and developed again under the direction of Pat Symonds. It is the first race car Marussia, which was tested before its presentation in a wind tunnel and therefore not created solely on the basis of CFD. For this purpose, the wind tunnel was used by McLaren. Is powered racecar of a Cosworth V8 engine with 2.4 liter displacement. The vehicle is substantially an evolution of the 2012 MR01 used, the key concerns of the team was on the improvement of the cooling and the air flow in the rear area of the vehicle. For this purpose, the shape of the side boxes has been changed and the exhaust designed so that the Coanda effect is utilized better. The suspensions have been completely taken over by MR01.

It is striking that the MR02 is the only vehicle of the 2013 season on a constant gradient from the cockpit edge to the front, which makes unnecessary the use of the newly introduced Eitelkeitsblende. Already the previous model MR01 had such a deep front fascia.

Driver
