The company Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. , Listed in the financial index BSE Sensex, is an Indian car manufacturer. Maruti was founded as a joint venture between Suzuki and the Indian government in the early 1980s. On September 17, 2007, it was renamed from formerly Maruti Udyog in Maruti Suzuki India Limited. Currently (as of October 2008) holds the Japanese Suzuki Group 54 % stake in Maruti Suzuki.

In Maruti Suzuki vehicles are produced under license, of which especially the Maruti 800, a license of 1984 featured Suzuki Alto plays an important role. He has long been the best-selling car model in the Indian subcontinent as well as in the neighboring countries of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal. Since 2009, the Nissan Pixo from Maruti is produced.
