Marvin Camras

Marvin Camras (* 1916, † June 23, 1995 ) was the inventor of magnetic recording.

He began his career in the late 1930s as a student at the Armour Institute ( later the Illinois Institute of Technology, IIT), where he built a wire recorder. On the recommendation of his professors, he turned to the Armour Research Foundation (later IIT Research Institute) for the development of his invention.

Until 1994, he taught electrical engineering at IIT.
