Marvin Hart

Marvin Hart ( born September 16, 1876 in Fern Creek (Kentucky), † September 17, 1931 ) was an American boxer and world heavyweight champion from 1905 / 1906.

His first professional fight, he denied on December 12, 1899 against William Schiller in Louisville. He won by KO in the 7th round. On July 3, 1905, he defeated Jack Root in Reno the vacant World Cup in round 12 by knockout. The referee in this fight was his back trodden predecessor Jim Jeffries. Already in February of the following year in 1906, however, he had to hand over 20 rounds in Los Angeles back in his title fight against Tommy Burns. He had his last fight on December 20, 1910 against Carl Morris in Sapulpa (Oklahoma), which he ended by knockout in the 3rd round.
