Mary Hayley Bell
Mary Hayley Bell ( born January 22, 1911 in Shanghai, † 1 December 2005 in Denham, Buckinghamshire ) was a British actress and playwright.
Life
The father of Mary Hayley Bell worked as a British government representative in China, the family moved to Tianjin later. There Bell and the actor John Mills met in the 1930s, for the first time. 1939, they met again, as Mary Bell a horse in comedy played in Tony Draws theater. On January 16, 1941 married Mills and Bell. The church wedding took place but only on 16 January 2001, her sixtieth wedding anniversary.
Bell finished with her wedding her career because she considered it to be too complicated to have two actors in the family. All three children are also in show business: the daughters Juliet Mills ( b. 1941 ) and Hayley Mills ( b. 1946 ) are actresses, son Jonathan Mills ( b. 1949 ) is a writer and film producer.
Bells had begun career in 1928 with the comedy Volpone. Followed in 1935, the film Vintage Wine. In 1955 she appeared in The Shrike again in the same role in 1958, brought those back to Broadway. However, these performances were exceptions. The Big Freeze ( 1993) she was last seen as a retirement home resident without being mentioned in the credits.
Instead of acting Bell wrote novels and dramas. First, she wrote four plays: Men in Shadow ( 1942), Angel ( 1947), Duet for Two Hands ( 1945) and The Uninvited Guest ( 1953) - her husband played in all with. This was followed by the novel Whistle Down the Wind (1961 ), their participation in Sky West and Crooked (1966) and the way the employees in the dialogues of Scott of the Antarctic (1948 ).
