Mary Jane Lamond

Mary Jane Lamond ( born 1960 in Kingston, Ontario ) is a Canadian folk musician who is known as an interpreter of traditional Gaelic folk songs from Cape Breton Island. She has a degree in Celtic Studies at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

On Ashley MacIsaacs success entitled " Sleepy Maggie " (1995 ) took Lamond on vocals. She reached also with " Horo Ghoid thu Nighean ," the first single from her album Suas e! ( 1997), a Top 40 hit in Canada. This was followed in 1999 the album Làn Dùil and 2001 Orain Ghàidhlig, of which a majority live in North River (Prince Edward Iceland ) was added. In 2005 she published the stripped-down Studio Shot Storås.

Since 2000, Mary Jane Lamond has composed tracks for films and plays, worked on radio shows and participated in several community service projects. It has, for example, as a member of the " Gaelic Council of Nova Scotia " ( Gaelic Council of Nova Scotia ) is used for the preservation and revival of the Scottish- Gaelic culture in Cape Breton Island. In addition, she works as a Gaelic teacher.

2005 Lamond contributed the song " Mo Mhaeli Bheag Og " to the charity album voyces United for UNHCR.
