Mary Margaret McBride

Mary Margaret McBride ( born November 16, 1899 in Paris, Missouri, † April 7, 1976 in West Shokan, New York) was an American writer, journalist and radio host, the transmitted primarily by their total of more than 40 years of daily radio talk shows The Martha Deane Show and The Mary Margaret McBride show was known.

Life

After the visit of William Woods College in Fulton, she studied journalism at the University of Missouri and graduated in 1919 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA Journalism ) from. Subsequently, she was first a reporter for the Cleveland Press in 1920 and then assistant to the advertising editor at the Interchurch World Movement. She immediately was founded in 1920 as a reporter for the New York Evening Mail and remained there until 1934.

In 1934 she moved to the radio and got with The Martha Deane Show her very own radio show, which she presented until 1940. In 1937 she took over with The Mary Margaret McBride Show her second radio talk show that she hosted until her death. Throughout her long career, these programs were running at the radio station WOR (AM), WGHQ, CBS, ABC and NBC.

For her achievements, she received a "star" on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Radio category, is located at the address 7018 Hollywood Boulevard.

Writings

  • About her experience as a radio presenter, she wrote her first book in 1936, entitled Here's Martha Deane. This was followed by her memoir How Dear to My Heart (1940 ) and also autobiographical books America for Me (1941 ), A Long Way from Missouri (1959 ) and Out of the Air ( 1960).
  • In addition, she wrote the two books youth Tune in for Elizabeth (1945 ) and The Growing Up of Mary Elizabeth ( 1966).
