Mary Russell Mitford

Mary Russell Mitford ( born December 16, 1787 Alresford, City of Winchester, † January 10, 1855 in Swallowfield, Berkshire ) was a British novelist and playwright.

Mitford is best known for her work Our Village. Sketches of Rural Character and Scenery, a collection of 100 short stories. The stories were published in the 1820s and 1830s and are about the people and life in the village of Three Mile Cross in Berkshire, where Mary Russell Mitford lived.
