Mary Theresa Ledóchowska

Maria Teresia Ledóchowska ( born April 29, 1863 in Loos Village, Lower Austria, † July 6, 1922 in Rome) was a Catholic religious order founder and missionary.

She was the daughter of Count Anton Ledochowski and his wife Josephine née Countess Salis Zizers to the world. Her uncle was Cardinal Mieczysław Halka Ledochowski ( 1822-1902 ).

Maria Teresia Ledóchowska founded in 1888 an association to fight against slavery in Africa, in 1894 for " Peter - Claver Sodality for African Missions" was. She opened printers to disseminate religious literature in Africa and wrote a number of dramas to fight slavery in Africa. After the Second Vatican Council extended its congregation today "Mission Sisters of St. Peter Claver ," her activities in favor of evangelism in other continents.

After her death in July 1922 Maria Teresia Ledóchowska was buried on the Campo Santo Teutonico. Her successor was Mary Julia von Falkenhayn (1865-1956), a daughter of Franz von Falkenhayn. Her sister Maria Ursula Ledóchowska (1865-1939) was canonized as foundress, her brother Wladimir Ledochowski (1868-1942) was Superior General of the Jesuits. Another brother was known as the "Holy General " Polish officer Ignacy Kazimierz Ledochowski (1871-1945), who perished in concentration camps.
