Mary White (Green Party politician)

Mary Alexandra White ( * in County Wicklow ) is an Irish politician.

Born in County Wicklow, Mary White lived for more than 20 years in Borris, County Carlow. She is married and has one daughter.

Her political career began in 1997 when she, albeit unsuccessfully, for the Green Party took to the elections for the 28th Dáil Éireann. 1999 White was elected to the Carlow County Council, and re-elected in 2004. In 2001, she became vice leader of the Green Party. 2002 White ran again for a seat in Dáil Éireann, the candidature remained, like her candidacy for a seat in Seanad Éireann, the same year, without success. In 2004 she took part in the elections for the European Parliament, but could not prevail with only 5.64% of the vote. In the elections to the 30th Dáil Éireann, it finally succeeded in 2007 in the Irish House collect. As a result, she gave up her seat in Carlow County Council. 2007, White was confirmed as vice party chairman.

On March 23, 2010, she was Minister of State and held this post until January 23, 2011, when her party left the government coalition. In the following elections to the 31st Dáil in February 2011, White lost, as well as their five party colleagues, their seat in the lower house.
