Maryborough, Queensland

Maryborough is a city in the Australian state of Queensland and is located about 300 km north of Brisbane on the Mary River. It is the seat of the local government area ( LGA) Fraser Coast Regional Council.

History

It was founded in the 40s of the 19th century and was early on a successful city. It benefited from the wool trade and participated in the gold rush of the late 19th century. For a long time Maryborough also immigration port for immigrants to Queensland.

Today Maryborough has about 21,500 inhabitants and, together with the nearby Hervey Bay, Fraser Coast tourism area. Because of the long tradition promotes the city with the title " Heritage City" ( Heritage City ) and has also geared for tourists.
