Masae Ueno

Masae Ueno (Jap.上 野 雅 恵Masae Ueno, born January 17, 1979 in Asahikawa ) is a former Japanese judoka and two-time Olympic gold medalist. She stepped in the weight class up to 70 kg, the middleweight division.

After a fifth place finish at the 1999 World Championships in Birmingham Ueno in 2000 was achieved with a victory at the Asian Championships in Osaka, her first major international success; at the 2000 Olympic Games she finished ninth. At the World Championships in Munich in 2001 she won the final against Briton Kate Howey. In 2002 she received the bronze medal at the Asian Games in Busan. 2003 in Osaka, she won her second world title by a final victory against the Cuban Regla Leyen. Your next major title she won in May 2004 at the Asian Championships in Almaty. Three months later she won at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens in the final against the Dutch Edith Bosch.

After a year without international title Masae Ueno won at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha. In 2008 she won at the Asian Championships in Jeju her third title after 2000 and 2004. Ended her career she won in August 2008 at the Olympic Games in Beijing against the Cuban Anaysi Hernandez her second Olympic gold medal.

Masao Ueno's younger sister Yoshie Ueno, 2009 was world champion in the light middleweight.
