Masaharu Taniguchi

Masaharu Taniguchi (Japanese谷口 雅 春, born November 22, 1893 in Kobe, Japan, † 17 June 1985 in Nagasaki, Japan ) was a Japanese author, and founder of the new religious movement Neugeistler Seicho -no- Ie ( literally: house of growth or home of an endless life ).

Life and work

Youth, influences and training of teaching

Taniguchi was born on November 22, 1893 in Kobe and was raised by his aunt and uncle. Against the wishes of his foster parents, who favored a medical career, he began in 1911 the study of literature at Waseda University in Tokyo. The taking place in this discussion of Schopenhauer, Tolstoy, Nietzsche and Oscar Wilde later influenced the formulation of its Seicho no Ie movement.

In his 1963 published book Seimei no Jisso (生命 の 實相, " truth of life ", Vol 19), Taniguchi describes that he while he was studying a vorbestraftes and life embattled 17- year-old girl named Fusae, the refuge with him sought to himself recorded (p. 58-67 ). He had compassion on her, but felt a platonic love for a 10 -year-old girl named Hisako, who lived across the street from him (p. 65-70 ). As a result, he began to deal with spirituality and joined the religious movement Oomoto. He began to write articles and to prepare for publication in Oomoto magazines. Soon he began to deal with other religions, he discovered Ittoen, grappled with the teachings of Gautama, Shinran, Jesus and Paul, and immersed himself in the writings of Christian Science as well as spiritism.

In 1920 he married Teruko Emori ( 1896-1988 ), a woman from the Oomoto headquarters, from the marriage fell daughter Emiko (* 1923) shows. When they got sick, he lacked the money for medical treatment and he tried to cure himself. As there in 1923 after the Kanto earthquake in Tokyo was looting, Taniguchi lost his already limited ownership and was penniless. But seven years later, it came to fruition.

Seicho no Ie

Taniguchi's own claims that he heard since the 1910s during his meditation votes and 1929, he is alleged to have received a divine call that told him: "Start now ". Then 1930 he brought out the magazine Seicho no Ie, initially organized as a publisher with a commercial background. The demand has proven extremely positive and an ever increasing number of subscribers spurred him to further publications and writing books. Gradually emerged from the subscribers faithful followers, especially but joined the commercial idea further and further into the background. Taniguchi itself, as well as his readers saw themselves increasingly as a prophet of a new truth, " the philosophy that only God is the reality." Finally it grew a religion that Seicho no Ie.

Taniguchi has published more than 400 books, but only about ten titles have been translated into German. Under his leadership, the Seicho no Ie used with several million followers around the world, where he completed numerous tours through Europe and North and South America. According to Taniguchi's death in 1985, took his son Seicho Taniguchi ( born 1919, born Seicho arachidonic ), the management of the organization.

Teaching and classification

Taniguchi was mainly influenced by the work of The Law of Mind in Action by Fenwicke Holmes, brother of Ernest Holmes. Seicho no Ie combines ideas from Christianity, Buddhism, Shinto and Christian Science and New Thought movement is assigned. The organization occurs for world peace and against dogmatism. Only criticism and rejection point on the part of the established churches is the extensive deviation from God's understanding of the Bible.
