Masaru Arai

Masaru Arai (Japanese新 井 优, Masaru Arai, * 1952) is a Japanese amateur astronomer and discoverer of asteroids.

He works at the observatory in Yorii (IAU code 875 ), where he, along with Hiroshi Mori, since 1988 discovered 45 asteroids. On January 5, 1991, he discovered the comet C/1991 A2 ( Arai ).

The asteroid ( 21082 ) Araimasaru was named after him.
