Maschinenbauanstalt Humboldt

The Maschinenbauanstalt Humboldt A. G. was a German mechanical engineering company in Cologne-Kalk and one of the predecessor companies of Deutz AG. It was in 1871 as a mechanical engineering A. G. Humboldt founded liquidated debt due in 1884 and in the Maschinenbauanstalt Humboldt AG converted.

Entrepreneurial precursor was an operation of Wimmar Breuer, who established since 1853 in lime perforated sheets. It was built in 1856 by Breuer and the partners New Castle and Sievers as a machinery manufacturer for the mining of Sievers & Co. in lime at Deutz on the Rhine.

Under the name Maschinenbauanstalt Humboldt the locomotive was added in 1896. For this purpose systems of a liquidated machinery factory in Güstrow were purchased and delivered, the first steam locomotive on 24 September 1898. Among other things, for example, 81 pieces of the Prussian S 6 and a total of 77 copies of the various Prussian G-5 variants were built from 1911 to 1913.

On December 22, 1924 interest group contract has been concluded with the gas engine factory Deutz AG. 1925 created the Öllokomotivenbau GmbH, at the Humboldt, the gas engine factory Deutz and the locomotive factory Henschel & Sohn in Kassel were involved. After the construction of only one locomotive, the party broke up again in 1928. In the same year, however, according to Humboldt presented a total of over 1700 built locomotives the locomotive shortage of orders. On October 17, 1930 Humboldt merged with the gas engine factory Deutz AG for the Humboldt -Deutz AG engines. 1938 Isselburger hut was taken and it was created by a treaty with the organ works of Klöckner- known name Klöckner- Humboldt -Deutz AG ( KHD). Today, a part of the name is still found in KHD Humboldt Wedag International, an originally outsourced from Deutz AG company 's plant engineering.
