Maserati (Band)

Maserati is an American post-rock band from Athens (Georgia ).

History

Maserati was founded in spring 2000 by Coley Dennis, Matthew Cherry, Steven Scarborough and Phillip Horan in Athens. After the self-published EP followed in 2002 by the first publication, The Language of Cities on the label children Core Records from Athens (including Of Montreal ). After approximately one year of band break, in which some members of the band with Macha and Now It's Overhead toured, replaced Jerry Fuchs - formerly the drummer of Turing Machine - Phillip Horan on drums. This was followed by extensive tours through America, Europe and Japan. After the demise of the Children's core label Maserati joined Hello Sir Records and released their EP The Language of Cities again. This was followed by splits with The Mercury Program, Cinemechanica and We vs.. The Shark and a 7 "single. For the release of their first CD / LP Inventions for the New Seasons Maserati moved to Temporary Residence (such as Explosions in the Sky, Mono).

The drummer of the band, Gerhardt "Jerry" Fuchs died 8 November 2009 in an attempt to get rid of a stuck elevator, which he deeply fell five stories and succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Style

The style Maseratis can be described as purely instrumental post-rock, reminiscent of contemporary bands like Mogwai or From Monument to Masses. In addition, in music, a preference for Krautrock bands in the style of New! or Ash Ra Tempel recognizable, as is the penchant for classic Psychedelic Rock a là Pink Floyd.
