Maslenica

Maslenica is a town and small port in Croatian Dalmatia in Zadar on the Adriatic.

Location

The village is under the Velebit mountain range on the southeast side of the narrow outflow of the Gulf of Novigrad, the east of the Northern Dalmatian island of Pag leads to coastal waterway, opposite Novigrad. It is connected by the Maslenica Bridge and the Maslenica highway bridge between the A1 and the Zadar peninsula. Southeast direction Obrovac opens the Karst Zrmanja.

Historical

Notoriety because of its military importance during the Croatian War attained the place for the first time with the destruction of Maslenica Bridge on 21 November 1991 and again from January 1993 through the military operation Maslenica to the relief of the besieged Zadar and the reopening of the Croatian access to Central and South Dalmatia.
