Maso di Banco

Maso di Banco († 1348 ) was an Italian painter of the 14th century, who worked in Florence and was influenced in his style of Giotto.

About his small oeuvre, no more accurate and verifiable information have survived until today. However, a variety of unique write-ups exist.

In all these frescoes attributed to him, Kirch images or church windows of the author never challenged the traditional image of tradition.

An example is the fresco painting of a Partikulargerichtes that decorates the tomb of a member of the banking family in a Bardi Chapel of Santa Croce church in Florence, on asking this for his soul before directing Christ.

The decoration of just those mentioned chapel illustrates particularly well in which original form, it both the " narrative stick " style and the formal characteristics internalized, which he had received through the lessons of Giotto and Lorenzetti Ambrogio in a distinctive way in itself.

Works by him are also found in the Louvre, in the Detroit Institute of Arts and Chantilly.
