Mason (Perl)

Mason is the name of a system based on the programming language Perl Web Application Framework. Conceptually, Mason is similar to PHP, but through the use of Perl are sophisticated string processing in UTF -8 and the very numerous CPAN modules. Mason is distributed as free software under the GNU General Public License and the Artistic License.

Mason is as a backend for sites with dynamic content under high load, such as online newspapers or database driven e-business. Mason is used in some well-known sites such as amazon.com and del.icio.us; a comprehensive list can be found at Mason HQ.

Mason can be used as an Apache module or as a CGI program.
