Mass No. 4 (Schubert)

The Mass No. 4 in C major D 452 is a Mass setting for soloists, chorus and orchestra by Franz Schubert from the year 1816.

The premiere of the show should have been the end of 1816 in the parish church Lichttaler while Schubert's early love Therese Grob sang the soprano solo. Another performance to the composer's lifetime is detected shortly after the release of the orchestral parts for late summer 1825, also reported by Ignaz Franz Castelli to Dresden:

"In the parish church of St. Ulrich am called Platz Missa Solemnis of a new composition of our popular songs composer Schubert has been listed for the feast Maria birth and has proven evidence that the young man possessed great knowledge in the strict church proposition. Inner content and effect are significant. "
