Massimo Moratti

Massimo Moratti ( born May 16, 1945 in Boscochiesanuova ( VR), Italy ) is an Italian oil tycoon ( co-owner of the company founded by his father company Saras ) and was 1995-2013 principal owner and long-time president of the football club Inter Milan SpA.


Moratti is the son of Angelo Moratti, the former owner and president of Inter ( 1955-1968 ). Meanwhile era in which Inter a world-renowned team was, is still regarded as the most successful period of the club. Massimo Moratti is married to Emilia Bossi and father of five children. His sister Letizia Moratti is an Italian entrepreneur and former mayor of the city of Milan.


Massimo Moratti took over Inter Milan in 1995, was initially also president of the association until 2004 he handed over this office to club legend Giacinto Facchetti. After Facchetti death in 2006 Moratti took over the presidency again.

Moratti has invested an estimated 750 million euros in the club. In July 1999, he bought the striker Christian Vieri for a then-record transfer fee of 90 billion lire ( the equivalent of about 46.5 million euros ). Other purchases were his star Ronaldo, Adriano, Hernán Crespo, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Julio Cruz, Patrick Vieira, Juan Sebastián Verón, Samuel Eto'o and Diego Milito. Through the sales of players like Andrea Pirlo, Clarence Seedorf, Roberto Carlos and Fabio Cannavaro, who became superstars after their departure from Inter Milan, Moratti also criticism for its transfer policy, had to put up with it but often.

The Italian entrepreneur was also for the numerous coaching change in his era known: Under Moratti had 19 different coaches at Inter active, some of them several times.
