Massimo Pigliucci

Massimo Pigliucci ( born January 16, 1964 in Monrovia, Liberia) is Professor of Philosophy at Lehman College of the City University of New York. His work focuses on the philosophy of science. Previously, he was Professor of Ecology and Evolution at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He is known for his criticism of creationism and its use for scientific and skeptical thinking. He received his Ph.D. in Genetics at the University of Ferrara, a PhD in biology from the University of Connecticut and a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Tennessee.

He got the Dobzhansky Prize from the Society for the Study of Evolution. He is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal.

Pigliucci also has a column in Skeptical Inquirer and is a member of the Brights movement.
