Geographical Location

Massing in the region Landshut in the valley of the Rott near the B 388 as well as directly on the railway line Passau - Neumarkt-Sankt Veit. Massing is located approximately 13 km west of Eggenfelden, 34 km south of Dingolfing, 26 km southeast of Vilsbiburg, 24 km north-east of Mühldorf and 26 km north Altöttings.

History

In the year 773 " Mosevogel the river Rott " is first mentioned and is the oldest town in the upper red valley. In Salzburg deed book 910 a church is mentioned in Massing. 1307 was the noble residence Massing on to tree garden at the monastery Aldersbach by the family of those. Before 1350 Massing received market rights, which were expanded after a fire in 1381. The ducal care Massing was in the 15th century the court Gangkofen incorporated.   • Open-air Museum Massing: The reason for the founding of the museum was the impending expiry of a residential barn house in Schusteröd. The municipality bought the monument in 1965 and a plot as a museum site. 1965/1966 was the degradation. During the reconstruction phase, a barn and a granary were purchased. The inauguration took place in June 1969. Healing yard, Kochhof and Marxensölde followed.
  • Berta Hummel Museum: exhibition on the life and work of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel, according to their designs, the Hummel figurines were created.
  • Parish Church of St. Stephen, brick building of the 15th century, from 1869 to 1877 novelty redesigned with neo-Gothic features
