Master of Frankfurt

The Master of Frankfurt (* 1460, † 1533? ), Possibly Hendrik van Wueluwe, today was a name unknown Flemish painter of the Renaissance. The Notname stems not from its origin, but from the fact that his most important works were placed in Frankfurt am Main in order.

Life

About the artist's life, there is little reliable information. He was probably active in Antwerp to 1518. The stylistic kinship of his works with those of Hugo van der Goes drop it suggests that van der Goes was his teacher.
