Master of the Furies

Furie Master is the Notname an ivory carver of the early 17th century, formed by a characteristic work, a screaming fury in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna. His sculptures are all unsigned. Stylistic studies as well as the mention of a work in an inventory of the Medici Grand Duchess Maria Magdalena of Austria from 1625 allow a temporal classification in the first quarter of the 17th century. The master and his workshop 25 works are attributed so far.
