Master of the Lippborg Passion

Master of Lippborger Passion is the Notname a Westphalian painter of the Late Gothic style, whose activity is dated to the period around 1470-1480.

The now held in the Westphalian State Museum for Art and Cultural History in Münster Passion altar of the Church of Lippborg is the Notnamensgeber this unknown artist. He is regarded as an outstanding student of the Master of Liesborn. Both are influenced by the Dutch masters of the Schöppinger altar. Another important work of the master of the Lippborger Passion is the altar of the Hohnekirche in Soest ( 1480 ).
