Master of the Malchin Altar

Master of Malchiner altar is the Notname a Low German painter who was probably midway through the first half of the 15th century, active in Hamburg.

The master of Malchiner altar received his Notnamen after the panel paintings on the outer wings of carved in the middle part of Mary Altar in brick Gothic parish church of St. John of Malchin. The paintings suggest the perimeter or followers of the Master Francke in Hamburg. They were taken earlier with the paintings on the outer wings of the high altar of St. Georgen in Wismar and the fragments of a Crucifixion altar in the Rostock Marienkirche in conjunction. The discussion also connect to the wings of the Epiphany altar from the Rostock St John's Church, however, was soon discarded in favor of the master of Rostock Epiphany altar.
