Mataderos

Mataderos is a neighborhood in the southwest of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires. He has nearly 65,000 inhabitants (as of 2001) on an area of 7.6 km ². It belongs to the " Comuna " (district) C9 and is one of the less densely populated parts of the city.

Description

Mataderos got its name due to its function: The district was formerly both a location for the slaughterhouse as well as a cattle market ( Spanish " Matadero = slaughtered animals / slaughterhouse ).
