Mateusz Rutkowski

Mateusz Rutkowski ( born April 18, 1986 in Zakopane ) is a former Polish ski jumper.

Career

Rutkowski, who started for the club TS Wisła Zakopane and later for the LKS Poroniec Poronin, made ​​his international debut at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2002 in Schonach. He reached a good 33rd place on the normal hill with only 15 years. Rutkowski jumped One year later at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2003 Junior Sollefteå on rank 17 and culminated with the team in the team competition sixth. In March 2003, he was then given a starting place in the FIS Ski Jumping Continental Cup. Already in his first competition in Stryn as he reached 20 and 12 clearly the points.

Also in the 2003/ 04 season, he raced with success point in Lillehammer, Engelberg and Seefeld in Tirol, before he could win his first Continental Cup competition in Planica on 3 January 2004. In the second jump he stood in third place on the podium again. Therefore less than a week later, he also got a nomination for the Ski Jumping World Cup and launched for the first time on 10 January 2004 in Liberec in the highest competition series. In just his second competition, he became the 30th first World Cup point. Even in his home Zakopane he reached a place in the points in the second jumping with rank 15.

In the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2004 in Stryn he beat surprisingly the Austrian Thomas Morgenstern and won the title on the normal hill. With the team he reached the second place and thus won silver. A week later, could reach the seventh team in Team World Cup in Willingen.

In the Ski Flying World Championships 2004 in Planica Rutkowski flew on the 28th place and reached with the team finished eighth. Then he started for the first time in the Continental Cup. After failing to convince here in Kuopio, he remained at the World Cup in Lahti with no chance. At the final of the season he was ranked 58 in the World Cup overall standings. In Ski Jumping Grand Prix 2004 in summer he could reach only by adult individual performances, but managed in Hinterzarten with the team in the team competition in third place of the front runners.

At the beginning of the season 2004/ 05 he was unable to repeat again and missed the old services in all jumping. Also in the Nordic World Ski Championships 2005 in Oberstdorf, he was without a chance and reached only 45 places on the normal hill and 39 on the large hill. The team was in ninth without a medal chance.

A short time later, the association was an exclusion of Rutkowski from the World Cup squad known, since these have problems with alcohol, obesity and lack of fitness and discipline. In July, he launched one last time in Velenje in the Continental Cup, before he ended his active career.

His younger brother Łukasz Rutkowski is also a ski jumper.
