Mathematical economics

Business Mathematics is a branch of mathematics that applies mathematical, in particular stochastic methods on economic issues.

In microeconomics, macroeconomics and particularly in econometrics and operations research, mathematical models and methods are used to describe economic processes and to solve quantitative problems formulated.

Since 1977, Business Mathematics is offered by a number of German universities as an independent study course. An economic study of mathematics is possible at universities in the program in Mathematics with a minor in business administration or economics.

In addition, the teaching of business mathematics in business schools ( Bavaria ) in preparation for the other economic school subjects, such as business administration, accounting, etc. is applied. As compensation to the subject is offered mathematics in some Bavarian business schools only as an elective (2 hours a week).
