Mathias Clemens
Mathias Clemens, also Mett Clemens, ( August 8, 1915 * i in Redingen Lothr., today Rédange, France, † 26 November 2001 in Huncherange ) was a Luxembourgian cyclist.
Mathias Clemens was a professional racing driver from 1935 to 1948 and in that time the most successful road racers Luxembourg. Twice - in 1938 and 1948 - he was Luxembourg road champion. For years he dominated the Tour de Luxembourg, which he won five times. Four times he took part in the Tour de France; In 1936 he finished seventh overall, fifth in 1938 and 1939 in fourth.
1948 Clemens occupied jointly with Lucien Gillen second place in the six-day race from New York.
From 1946 to 1951, Mathias Clemens deputy in the Luxembourg Parliament. His brother was the racing driver Pierre Clement.
