Mathias Franzén

Karl Gustav Mathias Franzén ( born February 22, 1975) is a former Swedish handball player and a current Handball coach.

Franzén started six years playing handball at HK Aranäs. In 1995, he joined the Swedish giants Redbergslids IK Gothenburg, with whom he won a total of five championships. Also for Redbergslids his older brother Mikel and his twin brother Anders were active. In 2001, the external player for top Spanish club FC Barcelona. With Barcelona he won in the 2002/03 season the championship and the EHF Cup. In 2004, the trained chef joined the German Bundesliga HSG Nordhorn. After three seasons, he finished his career there. Two years later, Franzen took over as coach of HK Varberg, then playing in the Swedish Division 2. In the season 2010/11 Varberg managed promotion to the first division after the 2011/12 season he finished his work as a trainer at HK Varberg.

Franzén played 123 times for the Swedish national team. With the Three - Crown team he won the 2000 and 2002 European Championships, and won the 1999 world title. In addition, the right-handed in 2000 won the silver medal at the Olympic Games.
