Mathieu Guidère

Mathieu Guidère ( * 1971 in Tunisia ) is a French language and translation scholar who teaches as a professor in Islamic Studies at the University of Toulouse II -Le Mirail.

Life

Mathieu Guidère Oriental Studies and French literature at the University of Paris- Sorbonne (Paris IV). At the same time he completed his studies at the École supérieure de cadres interprètes - traducteurs ( ESUCA ), then from 1995 to 1997 he worked as an interpreter and translator ( French, Arabic and English). After Agrégation specialist Arabic his Ph.D. in 1998 in French Linguistics at the University of Paris- Sorbonne (Paris IV). He then acquired the diplôme d' études approfondie (DEA ) in Oriental Studies, which corresponds to a research-oriented master's degree. With the Habilitation à diriger of recherches (HDR) he qualified for the professorship. From 1998 to 2003 he taught voice and Translation Studies at the University of Lyon II. Then taught and researched Mathieu Guidère at the Military School of Saint- Cyr, before he moved in 2007 to the University of Geneva with the Department Translate. In 2011 he accepted an appointment at the University of Toulouse II -Le Mirail.

Research

In addition to the interest in language and translation science, Islamic science is another research focus of Mathieu Guidère. International media often use it as a terrorism expert for advice. He wrote more than 20 books on the Arabic language and culture, and about radical Islamism and global terrorism. He is interested in the connections between language, violence and politics. Topics such as politicizing speech, discourse strategies of Islam, Language and ideology, information and propaganda, communications and security are therefore the subject of his research.
